Welcome to

The Idaho Music Educators Association is a nonprofit educational organization of current and former music teachers and administrators across Idaho in public/private schools and universities and colleges, including private studio teachers and music educators living in retirement. IMEA is a state affiliate of NAfME, the National Association for Music Education, a 85,000 member organization representing music educators across the United States. Our goals include the advocacy of music with government, school boards & administrators, parents & society; betterment of conditions for teaching music to our students; recognition and opportunities for outstanding student musicians; exploration of better and alternative teaching materials and methods; and mutual support through meetings, conferences, and individual help. The Mission of IMEA is to promote and advance Music Education in all Idaho schools, to foster personal and professional growth of music educators, and to standardize and enhance musical opportunities for all students throughout the state.

UPDATE 10/27/17

After much discussion among the Idaho ACDA leadership, it has been decided to waive the ACDA membership requirement for teachers to submit singers for the MS and Elementary Honor Choirs.  As much as ID ACDA would like to have more choir directors involved in ACDA, the cost of membership to both organizations seems to be a deterrent to the success of these two honor choirs. So, teachers with either an ACDA or IMEA (NAfME) membership will be able to submit student auditions or recommendations in the case of the Elementary Honor Choir. Because of this they will extend the Middle School auditions and Elementary recommendations for one additional week (until Nov. 3).

We encourage everyone to support these two great opportunities for our Elementary and Middle School students.

The deadline for the ACDA Middle School & Elementary Honor Choirs has been extended to November 3.
The Deadline for ACDA Elementary Honor Choir has been extended to October 20th!

Idaho ACDA is excited  to once again sponsor an All-State Middle School Choir and All-State Elementary Choir during the IMEA Biennial In-Service Conference and All-State.

  • The Elementary All-State Choir will rehearse during the day Friday, February 1, and perform late that same afternoon.
  • The Middle School All-State Choir will rehearse all day Thursday, February 1, and Friday, February 2, and perform late Friday afternoon with the Elementary Choir.

Online Auditions are now open. The deadline for the Elementary Honor Choir is October 13th The deadline for the Middle School Honor Choir is October 16th.
